Highschool of the Dead
Zombie apocalypse, not really sure whats going on. Everything is cute but then everything is dark too. It is a bad mix, and I can’t see it being a good anime, but I will stick with it and hold judgement until then. The first episode was constant action and some girls skirt flipped up when she was being eaten, telling me that Madhouse are sick and twisted people. Blood flows in almost all frames and boobs wobble around the others. The show has a big cult following, probably the worst I’ve seen.
Good points: Enjoyable, visually stunning and incredibly well animated. Finally, zombies are killing moe.
Bad points: Overdone fanservice, characters are almost superhuman in strength and agility (So much for a survival thriller), no visible plot.
Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi
A comedy from the same studio who brought us Railgun. I enjoyed this one, it had some very amuzing dialogue from the narrator who is the voice behind Kuroko – our crazy rapist lesbian from Railgun. It parodies fairy tales like Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and a couple more. Most of the humor was dumb or slapstick, and most I didn’t understand because I’m not a moefag, but it was still good fun to watch and I’ll be sticking with it. Moderate fanservice but nothing more than the usual.
Good points: Enjoyable again, would be nice if you enjoyed the fairy tales too. Lots of famous voice actors and moe characters for you horny people.
Bad points: Aimed at the otaku niche and of course, most of the humor is based around girls doing things girls don’t do because horny guys like it.
Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin
Probably the best one to me. It seemed fairly unique and I was expecting it to be really serious, but it ended up being quite a comedy. The story was pretty obvious from the start, time travelling of some sort, but we don’t know why. Some demons and other otherworldly things and a bit of drama. Definitely sticking with this one unless it goes downhill.
Good points: A plot in plain sight, some adult and some immature humor mixed well meaning you don’t feel lost, interesting protagonist.
Bad points: Still not entirely sure what happened.
Amagami SS
Every season needs a harem or ten. This one stood out a little because of its unique art style focusing on more detailed character design probably influenced from Love Plus type shit. Considering MAL doesn’t label this as a comedy, I found it had some Clannad-esque comedy that popped up frequently. Lots of drama and romance stuff, and a very sick protagonist picturing his sister naked in the shower with another girl. Will stick with it until it sickens me with romance.
Good points: Clear plot, some of the characters seemed quite unique. Some good comedy moments and some good drama moments.
Bad points: SOME of the characters seemed unique, the rest were the same reused generic bunch of fragile girls that can’t protect themselves from themselves. Slow paced too, but it can’t be called a bad thing really.
